Waiting In Line For A New iPhone

This was the scene at an NYC Apple Store earlier this week when the new iPhone went on sale.



I get the whole "being part of an event" thing. I get that people want to be the first to own something because then they get some extra attention for a [very] short period of time [as in, "Hey, is that the new iPhone? Let me see it!"].

But if for no other reason than you had to take off work and stand in line for hours in whatever the weather happened to be that day, can it wait a week?

Is it me or does everyone in the world have a lot more free time in their lives to do things like this than I do?
