15 of the 17 Editors logged votes for January's Post of the Month in what turned out to be a surprising distribution of ballots. However, after all the votes were tabulated and hanging chads dismissed, Carlos Miller's post documenting his confrontation with Metrorail security guards turned out to be the favorite.
Here is how the votes were distributed...

There was no shortage of comments from The Editors about their choices.
Blind Tastes:
As much as I enjoyed Carlos Miller's willingness to get his ass kicked so that maybe, just maybe, our children and our children's children will someday have the opportunity to photograph freely at a Metrorail station, my pick went to Eye on Miami for exposing a serious issue that all too easily gets brushed under the rug in Miami.Obalesque:
The 3-part foodie blog suggests there's something seriously wrong with the human race when this is considered acceptable behavior, and not the hideous decadence of an insensitive ingrate incapable of discriminating between self-indulgence and cruelty. Thank whatever gods you worship they placed you atop earth's food chain in a secure nation of plenty, and set aside the sickness you celebrate with your spoiled palate and vulgar prose. Oh, and have a nice day.South Florida Lawyers:
For me it's Carlos' ever-entertaining commentary and video, as engrossing and humorous as anything ever presented by Bobby the Brain Heenan and Roddy Piper. Keep it up, Carlos. Who needs a mufti-million dollar domes stadium to indulge one's taste for combat and violence when south Florida has you vs. 50 State?
All excellent choices, but EoM presented a real issue worth public discussion that has received little attention from the mainstream press.Bark Bark Woof Woof:
And yes, I may be modest and self-effacing, but I thought my post about the Pontiac deserved at least one vote.Beached Miami:
I went with FFT's 45 Best Dishes post because it's an invaluable, mouth-watering dining resource. It was a hard choice with EOM's dredge post and Salty Eggs' Carlos Alvarez essay also on the list. EOM's post astutely pointed out the dysfunction and hazardous ineptitude of Miami government, which should be shocking but isn't -- and that, perhaps unfairly, is part of the reason that I chose the FFT list over it. As for the Salty Eggs post, it's a great read and the surreal topic certainly warranted a piece by a writer of Matt Preira's calibre, but I came away thinking that he was too quick to use Carlos Alvarez's turn as a bodybuilder to reinforce the Miami stereotypes of vanity, absurdity, etc. So for subjective reasons, I went with FFT's banquet for the eyes.On Two Shores:
Voted for Salty Eggs.Hello, I'm Scott:
Let's face it, for all his sins, Carlos Alvarez was a boring and undistinguished technocrat, not the kind of mayor we expect to share a title with schmoozer Steve Clark and peacock Alex Penelas, not to mention crazy Xavier Suarez and crazier Joe Carollo. That's what made his reappearance onto a bodybuilding stage, oiled and Cheeto-hued, so typically Miami. The freak was out. Salty Eggs hit the mail in the head on that one.
Salty Eggs. The others were, no doubt, great posts. And I really wanted to vote for Bark Bark Woof Woof's piece on his Buick. But if we are to identify a piece that is most definitely South Florida, this is it.Carlos Miller:
Just voted for my Metrorail story as I'm still feeling the effects from that attack.Eye on Miami:
I love Carlos Miller's run ins.Miami Beach 411:
I gave my vote to Carlos Miller for being the most entertaining of the bunch. However, I wish he put his talent into other subjects, and was not so obnoxious with his camera. Carlos also lost some credibility to his case, when he admitted to the security officer he'd been drinking before the video shoot. That being said, it sure was entertaining to watch. I'd like to see Carlos do some funny Jackass-style videos.FOODalogue:
Being a food blogger, I couldn't resist all the deliciousness in Best Dishes. :)
Big congrats to Carlos for pulling this one out. Those were 5 strong posts.
